In addition to my art, I am a retired environmental scientist who has studied rivers and streams around the world. I grew up in Traverse City, Michigan, then lived in Georgia, Chicago, and the Hudson River Valley of New York for 30 years before moving to the Leelanau Peninsula and taking up art as a hobby. My paintings are based on my own photos, many of which were taken during scientific expeditions.
